Head Coach

Alison Duncan

Coach Duncan is currently in her 11th year as the Crown Point Head Volleyball Coach. She is a 2000 Andrean High School alum and previous AHS coach for five seasons; two as the varsity assistant and three as the varsity coach. As the Crown Point head coach, Duncan's teams have won 6 sectional titles, 3 DAC titles, 4 regional titles, 2 semi-state titles, and have appeared in 2 state championship matches. Professionally, she has received numerous conference, district and state coach of the year awards. She also serves on the IHSVCA as an executive board member.

In high school, she played for the Dunes Volleyball Club and went on to play at Saint Mary′s College Notre Dame. While there, she was a two year captain, 2 time most valuable player, conference player of the week, and selected twice to the MIAA All-Conference Team.

Coach Duncan has a Bachelor′s Degree in Business Administration and a Masters Degree in Sports Administration from Valparaiso University. In 2012, she obtained TTT license in business through Calumet College of St. Joseph and finished her career and technical education license from Ball State University. She is excited continuously build a successful volleyball tradition in the Crown Point Community.

Her coaching philosophy is: I firmly believe that every season can be a successful season by simply staying on course. The desire to win, to get better, and to believe in eachother is something that I push all of my athletes to feel in all things that we do. A love for the game and a respect for teammates can make any group of young women reach goals that seemed once impossible.

Varsity Assistant Coach

Erienne Barry

A native to the Chicago area, Erienne Barry began her volleyball career at age 12 with Club Fusion. She started her college career as a setter for Western Michigan University before transferring to Boise State University where she played beach and indoor volleyball. From 2016 to 2020 she was traveling and living in Europe working in international volleyball where she worked with pro teams and university teams from America. 2019 was her first year coaching with head coach Alison Duncan and the bulldogs!

Junior Varsity Coach

Gabriella Argenta

Coach Argenta is in her third season as Junior Varsity Coach and prior was the Assistant Varsity Coach for two seasons. She is a teacher in the Physical Education and Health department at Crown Point High School. Coach Argenta also has coached softball and boys basketball for Crown Point High School. Before returning to Crown Point, she was formerly a PE teacher, 7th grade volleyball, and freshman girls basketball coach at Munster High School.

Gabby played 4 years of volleyball at Crown Point High School, where she was a 6 rotation outside hitter and two year captain. She played for Dunes Volleyball Club during high school. After high school she went to play collegiately at Saint Joseph’s College for four years where she was an outside hitter, defensive specialist and two year team captain.

​

Coach Argenta has a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and Secondary Education from Saint Joseph’s College Rensselaer. She is excited to be teaching and coaching at her alma mater and help develop athletes physically and mentally.

Head Freshmen Coach

Nancy Welker

The 2021 season will be Coach Nancy Welker’s fifth season with the Bulldogs.  Coach Welker previously coached at Thornton Fractional South High School in Lansing, Illinois for six seasons before retiring to watch her children continue their high school and collegiate athletic careers. 

As varsity coach, Coach Welker led the TFS Rebels to four Conference Championships,  five Regional Championships. Coach Welker’s tenure also included a 40 game conference win streak during her six seasons at the helm.

The Chicago Tribune named Coach Welker “one of Chicago areas winningest volleyball coaches” in 2004.   Coach Welker’s Club volleyball coaching experience includes: Dunes volleyball club, and she currently coaches for Ignite volleyball club.

Coach Welker is a licensed IHSA volleyball official, having officiated extensively in Illinois before joining the Bulldog coaching staff.

Coach Welker was a three-sport athlete in High School and College, earning many accolades throughout her career. Coach Welker holds a Master of Science degree in Health and Physical Education and continues teaching at the Lansing Illinois High School.

​

Coaching Philosophy: My coaching philosophy is a simple one…. Help each player to become the best student, player and person they can be. Through hands on instruction in practice and games, the role never wavers to assist her players in ascending to the next level.
